• Engine

Drag is lowered by redesigned crankcases, a crucial factor in allowing the single-cylinder engine to produce more torque and peak power compared with the previous generation. Combined with a long list of new or revised parts and updated valve timing, the proven LC4 engine meets the latest emissions standards while keeping its linear, controllable power delivery. The newest engine brings a further advantage in its service intervals: oil changes now come due at 15,000 km rather than the 10,000 km of the outgoing model.

• Exhaust

An improved exhaust system comes fitted to the latest-generation 701 Supermoto. Emissions are controlled by two lambda sensors working with the catalytic converter, which now sits in the header pipe after being relocated, making sure the machine meets emissions requirements. Thanks to this updated layout, riders can quickly and easily swap the silencer for one from the Technical Accessories range to enhance performance.

• Frame

Updates make the lightweight chromium-molybdenum steel trellis frame slightly stiffer, with no compromise to the handling characteristics it is renowned for. Precisely calculated torsional rigidity and longitudinal flex pass detailed feedback from the terrain through to the rider.

• Subframe

Housing an integrated 3.4-gallon (13-liter) fuel tank, the self-supporting rear subframe sits in a perfect spot for optimal weight distribution. The polyamide tank is made as a single piece through a thermoplastic rotational molding process, a construction that ensures low weight.

• Ride-by-wire throttle

A 50 mm throttle body, without any mechanical link to the throttle grip, is part of the Keihin electronic fuel injection system. When the rider opens or closes the throttle, the Engine Management System (EMS) controls the throttle valve electronically, constantly checking engine parameters against sensor data and adjusting to match. What results is power delivery that is smooth and responsive.
