• Crossplane Crankshaft Engine Derived From MotoGP®

This 998cc inline-four-cylinder powerplant uses crossplane crankshaft technology that's exclusive to Yamaha and drawn from Yamaha's YZR-M1 MotoGP® race bike. Everything about this one-of-a-kind engine is made to thrill.

• Digital Superbike Technology

On the YZF-R1M, a cableless ride-by-wire Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle (YCC-T®) system turns the rider's inputs into motion. It's joined by a complete suite of IMU-powered electronic rider aids that give the term "rider confidence" a whole new meaning.

• GPS Data Logging at the Factory Level

As standard equipment, the YZF-R1M carries an integrated Communications Control Unit (CCU) data-logging and GPS system that places factory superbike technology right in your palm. It comes with GPS-powered course mapping, automatic lap timing and adjustment from a mobile device through Yamaha Ride Control (YRC).ENGINE

• Cutting-Edge CP4® Engine

Powering the R1M is a 998cc inline-four-cylinder engine with Yamaha's exclusive crossplane crankshaft technology, which comes from Yamaha's YZR-M1 MotoGP® race bike. Because it equalizes inertial forces at the crankshaft, the CP4 motor provides a direct sense of linear torque, offering the rider the ultimate link between the throttle grip and the rear wheel.

• High-Output Engine Technology

The titanium connecting rods are made with Yamaha's precision fracture-split method to ensure maximum reliability at minimal weight. Together with forged pistons and titanium intake valves, these light components help the CP4 reach its high redline and over-rev capability. In addition, the cylinder block sits offset from the crankshaft, which reduces friction loads on the bores and pistons.

• Ride-by-Wire Throttle System

The R1M's ride-by-wire Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle (YCC-T®) system is based on the Accelerator Position Sensor with Grip (APSG), which does away with the throttle cables. Just as before, YCC-T accurately detects the rider's throttle input and operates the throttle valves to actively manage intake volume, making cutting-edge computerized engine management possible, but in a lighter package.

• Öhlins® Gas-Charged NPX Fork

An Öhlins® gas-charged NPX fork system is fitted to the YZF-R1M. It uses a pressurized nitrogen chamber, much like a rear shock does, to essentially eliminate oil cavitation, so damping stays consistent in the toughest conditions with unmatched ride quality and feel.

• Sleek Styling Plus Unique R1M Features

Beautifully integrated bodywork and sleek, stylish lines give the YZF-R1M an unmistakably aggressive, aerodynamic profile. Riders of the R1M enjoy an even higher level of fit and finish, courtesy of full carbon-fiber bodywork that includes a carbon windscreen fairing, side fairings, front fender and tail section. It's paired with a polished aluminum swingarm and crowned with a unique serial-numbered YZF-R1M badge on the top of the airbox cover.
